5 out of 5 stars Frackin' awesome   November 15, 2009

I've only recently got involved with this series of games, starting with World at War about six months ago. Although I thought it was pretty good, I was concerned that Modern Warfare 2 was overhyped. I was wrong, this is a brilliant game. Very addictive. I've already completed it, (it took four days) which is a first for me. The game time is on par with many other games. So, the graphics are amazing in 720p, surround sound is good, although I though the voices could be a bit louder and clearer. There were a few times where I was wondering what was I being told. Other than that I thought the game was extremely varied in terms of locations, objectives and weapons. It didn't take too long, as a newbie, to work out the controls or what to do. I'm not a on-line player fan, so couldn't care less about that aspect of the game.

Definitely recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Far from perfect.   November 15, 2009

You'll buy this game for the online multiplayer experience which is very good. However as a complete package, this game is in no way groundbreaking or perfect. With the inflated recommended retail price, media hype and huge budget, are we as gamers wrong to have expected more?

Simply Jaw Dropping! There are moments in the campaign when my jaw litteraly dropped. ...that's never happened before when playing a game!! The story is worthy of the game's blockbuster release. A must buy!

What can i say? Stunning.

I never liked any of the earlier Call of Duty games as they seemed very glitchy. So if i was going to purchase a WW2 Shooter, it would have likely been one of the Medal of Honor's or Brothers in Arms games. They were allot smoother and engrosing storyline wise.

However several days ago, my brother talked me into getting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. I took his word for it and purchased them both!

I hesitantly put Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on after watching a movie earlier today and figured i would turn it off after 10 minutes and whack it on Ebay or something.
Well what can i say, 4 hours later i was still playing it, all thoughts of getting rid of them have become a distant memory, and i have had to physically stop myself from playing them so i don't complete the games too quickly!

The visuals are mental! The character AI is crazy good! The sound quality from gunfire and explosions is tip top! Storyline engrossing! In fact for the first time getting a shooter, i can't think of any complaints.

If like me, you have got a WW2 Call of Duty in the past, and not liked, and based the decision to not buy them on that, then for goodness sakes reconsider! Give these a try! You will not be disappointed!

A easy 5 out of 5!

3 out of 5 stars Worth the Effort   November 14, 2009

Abit of an anti-climax after all the hype. I felt the first game was the same. It's all abit rushed and sometimes you have the feeling that you are just being funneled to a conclusion. The effects are the best I've seen on a game so far but the "Dragon's Lair" effect, if you remember the old video game where alot of the moves were removed from you and taken over by the games programme. The night effects in one particular cut, with a storm are amazing as are snow and desert moments but you have to make sure you take a moment, if the game will let you to stop and take a good look around. The games designers have obviously gone to alot of trouble to make this game look amazing but you have this constant pressure to go forward. The same can be said of Killzone 2 which also has alot of the charm removed from the first game. So if you could just slow down the action alittle and have the chance to go at you own pace, this would also make the game less arcady and more realistic. Online is very swift but suffers from the same problems as all onlining, idiots waiting for you to re-spawn just to kill you instantly or never quite finding a group who play realistically. So all in all, I have completed the game in four days, the missions are too short and so it takes no time at all to complete. I now find myself thinking I may aswell have just rented it instead of forking out the monies. So trade it in? I only played the first game twice unlike games like the original Killzone or Black which I have played hundreds of times. Worth the effort but with a lack of immersion.
