4 out of 5 stars Modern Warfare - now with added side missions.   July 4, 2010

The campaign - is pretty much COD 4 but with a storyline that makes no sense whatsoever. It lays the bombast on thick, with very little downtime (not that this is a bad thing).

The visuals - are a marginal improvement over COD 4, new streaming tech allows for more expansive environments. It also runs at a super slick 60fps (most of the time), though the resolution takes a hit, resulting in an ever so blurry image.

The soundtrack - is scored by Hans Zimmer, a famous film composer whose credits include Black Hawk Down, Sherlock Holmes and The Last Samurai. It's suitably epic.

The gameplay - is great. Well, it handles just like its predecessors, but even if you haven't played them you're sure to get the hang of things pretty soon (Aim. Shoot).

The multiplayer - is great. Sure there have been bugs aplenty and various glitches to exploit, but overall the experience is a good one. Also, you can gain EXP for doing pretty much anything, and the lure of unlocking a new weapon or perk is hard to ignore. 'Addictive' best sums it up.

A very special mention goes to - SPEC OPS. A series of unique challenges and missions for you and a friend to tackle together, even in split-screen. Examples include a modified version of the 'All Ghillied Up' mission from COD 4, and a snowmobile time trial/ race. All are fun, though some demand that you play with a friend, and cannot be accessed if you are on your lonesome.

Overall - it's COD 4, but y'know, a bit better. Oh and there's a nuke that you can activate in multiplayer. It kills everone but you and your team, presumably because you're nuke proof. Realism, COD style.

I bought this for my grandson who is late 20s
I know from what he has said that this was a very very good GAME. in fact so good that I am on the look out for another
similar GAME,I know that I ordered it from AMAZON and that they let me know the release date, and sent it to me when that date arrived. that was last year, and he said he would recommend it, highly.

THANK YOU TO AMAZON

3 out of 5 stars Almost there   July 1, 2010

Modern Warefare 2 has strenghts in certain areas and weaknesses in other. For example the Single Player is rather pointless, it is all over the place and half of the missions barely have any contribution to the game. Also the "No Russian" mission is abit pointless aswell as you actually do not achieve anything. It is only a good mission if you think killing innocent civilians is fun.

However the multiplayer is better but it lacks the feel of warefare, you can run around with a submachine gun with two perks at insane speeds. Also the DLC is insanly priced and not worth a purchase. The multiplayer maps and game modes are adusted to saying in the same pot and killing all that runs past or trying to insanly unrealisticly kill someone. It lacks teamwork and is all

The Special ops are good but they have glitches in and can be easily accomplished and you get lots of trophys. It is very fun when played with a freind and your in a AC130 blowing up everything infront, it has a good amount of co-operation in it.

Fair game, Fair price, 3/5

5 out of 5 stars Great but slightly shy of CODMW1   June 28, 2010
SHANN (England, London)
Its always hard to follow a brilliant original. Therefore, despite this installment not (in my opinion) being as strong as the first, it is still absolutely brilliant. It could easily be an awesome stand alone game. What does it lack? Well, the storyline is a bit far fetched and they have stuck to the recipe which worked in the first. Also, I would like to see a sensible introduction of destructible environment. Outside of this, it is very hard to find faults. The game play is brilliant, althought single player was a bit short. Multiplayer online is still as addictive as ever. The graphics, sound, attention to detail plus all other aspects are top drawer. In short, if you like first person shoot em ups then you need to buy this. Set up for another sequel and hopefully they can move the series on without compromising all the quality which has gone into the first two.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT, But campers? Now that is an issue!   June 22, 2010

I am not going to deny that I have never camped. Now obviously anyone who buys this game who doesn't have a kill to death ratio of above 1.5 who wishes to achieve 10 nukes in a prestige will struggle to if camping is not applied. However the levels of camping that some people do is simply mental, mental, chicken oriental. People camping whilst sniping I can deal with but apart from that there can sometimes be some anger issues. Also the Scar and UMP.45 are well overused surely some of the less used weapons can be made better or those worse so they are more appealing. However we are talking about the fastest selling game of all time and it is the best game out there however be aware of the issues.
