it is better than the first in so many ways. to name a few:
-you collect money
-you by new weapons
-you by new armour
-you can change your apperance etc...
i would recommend this 100% to anyone who loved to first game, but if you have not played the first game then buy the first game to then play this as then this will make sense.

a slow start to the game but once past this point it soon picks up. there are many new features and the story line is good. it is more challenging than the first one and has alot more for you to, it is not as repetative as the first game. you can develop your own style of play and look and there is alot more accesories and gadgets for you to try out. 9/10

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant Game of the Year!   February 21, 2010

Assassins creed 2 gives you everything that you would want. Great graphics, great story, great gameplay. Its all there compared to the first assassins creed which was good but repetative. UBI really out done themselfs here, the game takes a while to complete i would say near twice its length of the first assassins creed. The missions are really fun and keeps you playing following the story unlike the first assassins creed. After you played it you can't wait for the 3rd installment but there are still extra stuff to do when you finish the game like trying to get Altairs armor to wear.

The fps does drop below 30 at times and you can see textures going from low to high as you get closer to buildings etc. But it doesn't bother you from playing this amazing game.

A must buy!

I am a big fan of third-person adventure games with good plots and I greatly enjoyed this games predecessor. The thing about Assassin's Creed 1 is that it was one of my first experiences with my beloved PS3 and it was all so new. AC1 was also one of the first games that really showed me the visual capacity that the PS3/360 generation had. The game had its faults but I still enjoyed it. The problem that AC2 has is that gamers have enjoyed many wonderful and stunning experiences since AC1 (e.g. beautiful, huge open world enviroments and free climbing within aren't so new now, in fact, they're almost standard now) and thus we expect AC2 to raise its game significantly.
I just felt so underwhelmed by AC2. I was really looking forward to it and it was a day one purchase, but I found myself not enjoying myself as much as I'd hoped or even as much as I did with AC1. Perhaps it's because I had recently played inFAMOUS, Batman:Arkham Asylum and Uncharted 2 in succession and that's a tough act to follow. (By the way, I unreservedly recommend all those games.)
Assassins Creed 2 seems to have done everything right. The graphics are excellent, the acting is superb, there are side quests and collectables, certain repetitive elements from AC1 have been removed and variety has been injected. There is the opportunity to make money by means of investment and property management which makes you lots of money which you in turn use to upgrade abilities, weapons and armour. The only problem I found was that it wasn't long before that side of the game was completed. The story, I felt, was a bit convoluted but that is just a personal opinion and I know some love a story like this.
I really did feel, however, that the game was still very repetitive and that the apparent variety that seemed to be added was all smoke and mirrors. Everything you do just seemed to be a tiny variation on the same mechanic all the way through. I also found that when it came to the big assassinations, it didn't matter what you did or how careful you were, it all just ended up in chaos and lots of scrapping and then some fleeing. Maybe it's just me not being good enough at the game but it certainly ruined the immersion and believing that I really was playing the part of a super-special assassin. Oh, just to mention too that you can be walking the streets doing nothing wrong when a man walks INTO YOU and drops the box he was carrying and this prompts all the guards in Italy to pursue you. Not fun the first time nor the 678th time!
Overall I only thought the game was only ok. I know a lot of people will disagree with me because their experience of the game was much more positive. ALL the people I know who have played it have LOVED it - just to emphasize, that's ...ALL, and, ...LOVED! It just wasn't the case for me and I'm writing the review just to warn you to lower expectations just in case your experience is like mine.
I'd just like to add that I've been playing Darksiders recently and so far I've loved that. Not EXACTLY the same kind of game but good chance if you enjoyed AC1 and/or this game you'll like it.
Anyway... that's me done - take care of yourself!

4 out of 5 stars Very good, but very easy.   February 19, 2010

This game, as I'm sure you're aware follows on directly from its predecessor. I won't bother explaining the plot as I'm sure you're all aware of it already by now.

What I will say is this. The game is very enjoyable. There are extra tasks and missions in the game and the developers have tried to address some of the floors from the first game. Blending in with a crowd to fool guards is more difficult, still easy, yet no longer just press a button. There are also seeker guards that can find you whilst your trying to hide which makes it slightly more challenging, but not significantly.

The fighting is still ridiculously easy, yet no less enjoyable. You do however become an apt assassin very early on compared to the first game and it does not take long to acquire all the necessary skills and weapons need to beat any opponent.

The longevity of this game, in my opinion is no greater then the first instalment as once it's completed there is very little point in playing it anymore.

Overall I would say this is a very good game with exceptional graphics and game play. The cut scenes are not to long and there appears to be increased interaction with the AI characters (you can even pick up deceased guards dump the bodies and steal their money).

If you enjoyed the first and are a fan of action games I highly recommend this game. If you're after a challenging game that takes some form of skill and ability to complete then this may not be the game for you.
