A really great game February 18, 2010 This is a really brilliant game. There aren't any levels, it's one big story. You get to roam free around the cities of Italy and there are loads of different objectives and things to do, like races, etc. It's not too gory, and you can turn the blood off if you don't want too much gore. (Don't tell my mum but I didn't turn the blood off!) I think this is a really fantastic game and I can't wait for Assassin's Creed III, especially as Assassin's Creed II ends on a cliff hanger. I'm 11 by the way.
More of the same but better February 14, 2010 Fights Like A Tigger PSN:thesingingdriver (Scotland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
First of all, if you haven't played the first game, don't worry about it. You may be a little confused at first but it doesn't take long to catch up at all. There are a few references to Altair you may find a little confusing and if you choose to find all the tombs your reward is his armour, but that's about it.
Firstly, there are lots of similarities to the first one. You still climb viewpoints to get things to show up on your map, you still assasinate people (obviously) and it's still mission based. but that's about it. For a start Ezio is far more passionate and I think a better character than Altair. Altair was trained, presumably from a young age, which made him pretty one dimensional and wooden. Ezio is a passionate man and far more 3 dimensional so i found him far more interesting to play.
There are lots more kinds of tasks and lots more you can choose to do. You can choose to upgrade your home base, to do all the little mini missions like couriers and beating up cheating husbands. You can choose to buy lots of paintings and try to find treasure and teh assassin's tombs. Or you can choose to simply follow the main plot. Even the main missions are a bit more varied, sometimes you're pickpocketing and others you're chasing people down. Mostly you're killing though and the only real reason to do up the home town is to get more money to buy more weapons and armour.
The bad points are that if you didn't like the first one I'm not convinced you'll like the second. If your only problem with the first one was the repetitive nature of it then give the second one a go, that is vastly reduced. If you thought the whole concept was a little boring then don't bother.
My biggest gripe is the camera doesn't seem to have improved much. I still sometimes jump off walls when I mean to jump to a nearby ledge of run up a door way instead of running through it because the camera and controls are really sensitive. Sometimes it can be good that the character moves so quickly but during a timed mission or race more than once I plunged to my death because I held the jump button a split second too long and jumped off a ledge I didn't mean to. And the character still soometimes looks over a ledge instead of hopping off of it. It can make some missions very frustrating. Also if you go for all the glyphs ( a sort of mission running all the way through the stopry when you're trying to find messages left for you by a previous user of the Animus) the puzzles range from pretty simple to really confusing. Especially the ones where you need to find links in a series of paintings. I've needed a clue from the Internet almost every time, even when I figured out what the link was sometimes I didn't pick the right pictures. Those bits do slow the game down a bit.
The other irritating thing is to do with when you fail missions; the save point is back at the start of the mission which is great is you'd run quite a distance but if you find the mission to difficult it's not obvious you can decide to cancel it and do something else. I only found this in the pause menu by accident. Also, when you're doing a race the timer starts counting down again the instant the game starts up and a lot of the time your character is facing the wrong way! You lose a few seconds getting your bearings and swinging the character round which is a real pain in the butt.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's a bit more puzzle based with the glyph missions. Mostly though, it's more of the same but done up a bit better so it's not so repetitive. If you really enjoyed the first one, get this one. If you enjoyed the first but thought it was too repetitive, get this one anyway. If you thought the first was interesting, rent this one first. If you hated the first one then don't bother with this one.

...Don't Believe The Hype... February 13, 2010 R. Carney - PSN:- (BFBC2) Purple_ Aki_-_ (MW2) LiverbirdJFT96 (LIVERPOOL) 1 out of 16 found this review helpful
...Ok, I'm fairly new to the PS3, however am none too aware of the hype and excitement surrounding this game. Having completed and thoroughly enjoying Unchartered 2, and needing more than just MW2 to keep me entertained, I decided to see what the fuss was about and purchased this game to see for myself. How I wish I hadn't bothered.
Yes, the graphics look great whilst in gameplay, however I was immediately drawn to the fact that the in-game film sequences are ropey to say the least, certainly when compared to the vastly supreme looking Unchartered 2 and Arkham Asylum.
Wandering about in renaissance Italy sounds interesting enough but believe me, after a while (well, 20 minutes actually)the seemingly aimless wandering becomes tiresome and dull, and silly little missions like delivering letters to people not my idea of an exciting gaming experience.
If, like me, you are looking at this wanting a quality and INTERESTING story, non complicated controls and lastability (is that even a word?? you know what I mean though...) then don't buy this. If you don't have UC2 get that, or Batman: Arkham Asylum.
In short, the hype does not in my opinion feel justified as I was bored stiff playing this and 2 days after it arrived from Amazon I sold it on Amazon marketplace. At least the hype enabled me to get my money back...
Assassins Creed 2 February 11, 2010 D. GRANT (Ecosse) This game is not to bad at all. The gameplay is quite smooth and the difficulty varies throughout the game. The challenges are fairly straight forward once you come to terms with the maps and so on, and the secret cryptic tasks range from fairly straight forward to very, very difficult.(In my veiw... I'm not the sharpest tool in the box!) If you like these type of games it is one to own as there are always things that you miss or look over. Good buy I would say!
