Product Description

Nathan Drake is back, as gaming's most charismatic hero tries to solve the mystery of Marco Polo's last voyage (and earn himself a fortune in treasure at the same time). The original was one of the first games to really prove the power of the PS3, but this sequel is another huge leap forward.

The first game already mixed intense gunplay with precarious platform action, but this adds in new stealth elements and more flexible parkour style climbing controls. Your enemies have been upgraded as well, with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence that makes them just as agile and resourceful as you.

Always known for its stunning graphics, this sequel not only looks better but it's now much more dynamic, with fully destructible scenery in every level. Add-in all-new co-operative and competitive multiplayer and you've got one of the most exciting action adventures of the year.

  • Cinematic action: Amazing third person action that genuinely feels like you're in your own action film, with gunfights, treasure hunting and even romance!
  • New tactics: Use new stealth and parkour based tactics to tackle the newly enhanced artificial intelligence, with bad guys so realistic they even have simulated peripheral vision.
  • 100% efficiency: Developer Naughty Dog claim the first game only used 30% of the PS3's power. With destructible environments and huge levels this is aims to max the console out.
  • Friends reunited: For the first time you and two friends (as Sully and Chloe) can play together in the same game, with the brand new co-op mode.
  • Uncharted territory: Also new is the competitive multiplayer, where you can play as either the heroes or villains in deathmatch and capture the flag games.

Played the first game which was pretty easy, however this game to me has a bit more depth. The challenge's are a bit harder but make this game better than the first one.

5 out of 5 stars Among Thieves - at this price it's a steal   August 29, 2010

If Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was a rough diamond then this is the finished article, cut and polished to within an inch of perfection and displayed in a Bond Street jeweller's window. Excellent gameplay, a great story, brilliant characters and epic landscapes make this one of the best games I have played.

Opening with a battered and bloody Nathan Drake hanging on for dear life off a train that itself is hanging over the edge of a cliff, this is a roller coaster and globe-trotting ride from the opening. Teaming up with an old buddy (Flynn) and the sultry Chloe, our hero is soon off to Turkey to relieve a museum of one of its artefacts containing clues to the location of Shangri-La and the secret it hides. This one didn't go to plan and the not-so mighty Flynn leaves the unfortunate Drake to rot in jail before he is liberated by old pal Sully and the worldwide hunt for bad guys and treasure begins in earnest.

Fans of the first game will be pleased to see the re-union with Eleena (she's the game's Jennifer Aniston to Chloe's Angelina Jolie in this) part way through and it is the characterisation and script coupled with the often jaw-dropping scenery that make this such a great game. A stand-out moment for me was when Drake woke almost from the dead in a mountain village and just slowly walked through the beautifully rendered scenery, taking it all in. You could almost taste the mountain air. No gunplay, no jumping off trains - just a casual and immensely enjoyable stroll; a welcome relief from the intense action either side of it. The train ride (that shows how he arrived at the opening scene) is epic, ditto the assault on the monastery though I will admit I did have ruined-temple fatigue towards the end.

Comparisons with Tomb Raider are still valid with classic Lara locations such as Borneo and the Himalayas "borrowed" for this but Naughty Dog has raised the bar massively with this offering. TR still rules as far as the quality of puzzles go and Ms Croft's moves are sleeker, better controlled and more athletic but Drake win's the combat scenes hands down with some great stealth and intense set pieces. Ditto the cut scenes and humour. My only slight criticism is the sound, his guns "clicking" rather than booming.

Overall, this is a great gaming experience, not ground-breaking but definitely one of the best of the action-adventure genre.

Excellent game, quite challanging for me as I am not a hardcore gamer.

Defo recommend if you have not got this yet

5 out of 5 stars Third person shooter/adventure. Do buy this game.   August 13, 2010

Amazing. Like many other titles, the game itself is 4 star borderline 5 star but the multiplayer is so good it boosts it to a certain 5 star. Beautiful to look at - not style over substance but a great fusion of both. It is mainly a third-person shooter broken up by a bit of problem-solving along the way (nothing too taxing) and a bit of exploring around (no danger of getting lost as it is really about admiring the great visuals). I enjoyed watching the scenes between levels rather than wanting to skip them and found it a joy seeing how the story unfolds.

After completing the game, I went on-line and thoroughly enjoyed this. I am okay at games but no expert. There are always people who are way too good for me! However, what I find refreshing with Uncharted 2 is that despite this, I can still compete reasonably well on-line and so don't get disheartened by the on-line competition that's out there. Good fun!

I did have the urge to start over and play it again off-line. Not because of the remaining items to collect or other in-games incentives that are in place to encourage you, but because of the interactive cinematic set pieces that you play through (bit like wanting to watch a DVD again that you haven't seen for a while). After all the action on-line, only then I did I notice playing it through a second time was a bit more slow going. This is because a few levels involve walking around without engaging in combat, and after the intense on-line action this was a step down from the multiplayer mode. First time round of course, was really exciting though. Wished I had played it on hard mode rather than regular as the game isn't too tricky to be honest! I acknowledge some other reviewers believe just because the graphics are good that does not mean the game will be - I understand where they are coming from but still love the way it plays! Still not bored at all of playing this on-line and it's been 6 months! Recommended and my favourite in my collection.

5 out of 5 stars Believe the hype   August 11, 2010

Stupidly didn't buy this on release and picked u pthe platinum edition last week, amazing game, I realyl can't add much more than whats already been said. However I will add that I do love the plot in the game and how it plays out like an action film with superb mixes of gun fights, stealth and mystery. Best game I have played in a long long time. Even the multiplayer is an added bonus and at this cheap price can't afford to miss it!
