GOOD....BUT NOT GREAT! June 30, 2010 A92 (United Kingdom) I've wanted Tekken 6 for a while now and i finally purchased the game last week.
I was hoping for more of the same from the previous tekken games and although this game is good, it lacks something extra.
The graphics and player moves are all great, however i feel that with the way Tekken 6 has gone it has lost the hardcore arcade game feel and now rather poses as a family game instead, which is a real disappointment as Tekken is one of my all time favourite games.
Recommendation -
I would still purchase this game,as it is still very good. However don't get your hopes up.
tekken 6 June 19, 2010 Luke Thrower Tekken has always been a great franchise , combining an addictive arcade mode as well as the steep learning curve as you go from button basher to 10-hit combo master. Tekken 6 is no different and offers up another great game featuring arcade mode, online and the campaign.
===graphics===
The graphics in this game are beautiful, the characters muscles and hair are very well created, it also seems as though tekken have used alot of time on the female form as the jiggle effects have been cranked up another notch.
The arenas are stunning and range from temples , to roof tops , and outdoor battles, the arenas are now 2 levels, the starting level and a below level when you manage to break your opponent through the floor. Weather effects on the arenas are great , rain is very realistic and leaves reflections on the floor and snow moves according to your character. however , 2 arenas graphics dissapoint, 1 is a tropical rainforest in which the water (ankle high) seems to just stay still even though a great battle is being fought in it, secondly a sound of music esque arena where sheep just dissapear if you move into them, but apart from that great graphics.
===characters===
Tekken 6 brings back a lot of old favorites such as law, hwoarang and yoshimitso, but they have also thrown in a lot of new charcters , some which are notably overpowering. An example of this is one charcter which with ease, can fly , use chainsaws and explosives, not fun to fight against. however the inclusion of the new charcaters mean more variety and this leads to more exciting fights, as you are always going to find someone using moves you have bever seen before.
===scenario mode===
Ahh , the old tekken force, this mode is essentialy the campaign, it works as a side scroll beat them up which dosnt add much to the game. i found the scenario mode difficult to play, and seemed to be a way of the tekken devs just improving their movie skills as every minute there was another cut scene , it ends up feeling like a interactive movie.The addition of online campaign does little to save this, and is obviously just a filler to make sure the buyer feels they got their moneys worth.
===online===
The online system is good , but not for the unskilled and faint hearted. on my few plays on line i saw no lag but i did find myself being beaten regularly and fell that although i chose ranked match , the players i was going up against were extrememly good.
===overall===
overall Tekken 6 is a must have for any fan of the franchise and anyone who is a fan of fighting games, its one of those titles that if your not a huge fan you might not play as much , but its a nice game to have in the collection , and whip out when your mates come round for some good old fashioned rivalry.
Not bad but I was disappointed June 8, 2010 Axel Rousseau (London) I am not used to Tekken but wanted to play this game for quite a while. The first hours were a bit disappointing as I felt getting to know the characters and their moves is not so intuitive. The images, promised to be brilliant were not so amazing and still quite square-ish...
But I guess once you master a few characters it must be good.
It's ok! June 1, 2010 R. Levi (London, UK) Having owned an original playstation and a ps2, and I had Tekken in it's latest incarnation on both consoles, I though not only would it be a nostalgic purchase, but would also be a good game to purchase as my first ps3 game.
Firstly, dealing with the nostaligia, the memories were better in my mind - I should have left it there!
The game - as with many games these days, seems to have more action online than offline, which for me is frustrating, as I don't want to play online. The game is also in 720i (semi-high def) which for me has already been mis-sold to me, as I was expecting high definition (1080) not some halfway house. I really found it hard to tell the difference between this, and any of the previous versions found on other consoles. The single player "campaign" mode isn't that good - it reminded me of the old arcade classic "Double Dragon", but not as good!
Maybe it's me getting older, but this game doesn't seem to have the charm it used to have, or the playability, and there doesn't appear to be any development of the product that would make you want to buy it! An average game, where the makers - NAMCO - have clearly become complacent with their market leading beat-em up!
Tekken 6 May 19, 2010 Ms. Tashbila Salamut (London, UK) This game is really fun when playing more than one player. I bought the game because it brings back memories of the first ever tekken on PS1. I would recommend the game as its really good.
