| Customer Reviews: Excellent fun for all the family. July 26, 2010 angelfish5 This is one of the best games we have bought. Time flies when you play as a family. We used the singstar microphone and the guitar hero guitar both together and it kept the children entertained for hours.
Band Hero July 17, 2010 Sarah (Leicester) Bought this game becasue I liked the song list, but have to say that overall I'm a little disappointed.
The actually game itself is laid out in an almost identical format to guitar hero 5 (Not a problem), but unfortunately just looks a bit cheap and nasty. The backgrounds are all these garish hues of fluorescent pink and blue, which are just nasty, and the whole thing looks like it was put together on the cheap.
The trophies available are also strange, with 17 trophies available for 'hidden notes' which means that you either have to sing the song, or get pretty close to 100% notes hit to get the trophy, and you don't even know which songs the hidden notes are in! Saying this though, my brother and I managed to accrue 80% of the trophies in just one days worth of gameplay, which kind of makes the whole trophies thing look like a bit of a sham anyway - again as if not much effort has gone into making the game.
As for the in-game achievements, many of them require vocals or drums, so if you only have guitars you will be unable to collect a lot of the extra stars available. I also found that the intro to 'american pie' whilst playing on hard bass was so long that my guitar switched itself off while I was waiting for the notes to start! (I'm not sure if this could possible be changed in the console settings?)
The good news however is that both of our guitar hero guitars work with this game (the les paul, and the one that comes with GH5), and singstar mics work too which is good. I suppose that for £10 it's worth buying just for the extra songs, but if it's the first game of this type that you're going to buy, then you may well be better off with one of the other guitar hero games - GH5, or GH3 which although it doesn't have trophies, is probably the best of the bunch.
